Dr. Jose’ R. Ruiz possesses a PhD in Education – Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC). He earned a Master of Aeronautical Science Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from Park University. Dr. Ruiz holds a commercial pilot certificate with instrument and multi-engine ratings. During the course of a 20 year U.S. Air Force career, he served as an air traffic controller, a commissioned air traffic control officer and a communications officer.  Dr. Ruiz has been a faculty member in the Department of Aviation Management and Flight at Southern Illinois University Carbondale since August 1995.  As a Professor, he teaches four courses in the Aviation Management Degree Program: Fundamentals of Air Traffic Control (AVM 360), Aviation Safety Program Management (AVM 377), Aviation Career Development (AVM 402) and the National Airspace System (AVM 460).
